The weather has warmed up enough to head for the higher mountain trails. Here are just a few pics (mostly of our hiking buddy) from our hike last week.

The snow is still substantial at the higher elevations and the Aspens and various bushes have not yet begun to turn green in Hope Valley.

The old Horsethief Canyon Road is closed to vehicles other than the ranches that summer their cattle at the top. It's a beautiful up in the canyon but a very long walk. It took us 4.5 hours to make the trip from this trail head.

Our hiking buddy cooling off after a 5 mile hike. This is Silver Lake and the ice has been off the lake for about 2 weeks. You can see the snow on the mountains in the background. Nikki, as hairless as she is, loves to swim even in the coldest water.

Nikki chasing lizards on the rocks above Silver Lake while she drys.
We didn't take the camera for this week's hike and it was a good thing. Hubby fell in a stream pack and all trying to scoop some trash out. The water was over his head!
